BEST BUY! This 100% Corvina highlights the beauty and depth of this grape. The wine opens with a balanced mix of dried herbs, savory spices and wild red fruits. The wine is medium in body with tart cherry, bay leaf and tobacco flavors darting in and out on the palate. The wine finishes with a vibrant and refreshing level of acidity, giving it lift at the end of each glass
The pale pink of the glass belies the intense aromatics and rich mouthfeel of this rosé. Wild strawberries and peach candy on the nose give way to more berries and stone fruit on the palate, with a bit of blood orange and lime and a lick of quartz on the finish.
Subtle, revealing rose, strawberry, cherry and white pepper aromas and flavors. Tightly wound, with solid grip, this feels youthful and is evolving at a glacier pace. Reveals fine balance and length, with a chalky, mineral finish. Sangiovese, Colorino, Canaiolo and Ciliegiolo. Best from 2025 through 2040.
Here's a very special treat from Verduno and one of the most exciting new releases we will see from Italy this year. In its inaugural release, the Vietti 2018 Barolo Monvigliero is made with 60% whole cluster fruit, following in time-honored local tradition. The soils of Monvigliero are loose and light in color, producing tight but lean-bodied wines. The use of whole clusters gives the wine more texture, intensity and tannins. With wild berry, rose, dried mint and white licorice and very fine and smooth tannins, this wine is part of a precious 3,207-bottle production.
The first vintage for the 2015 Barolo Riserva offers richness and depth of profile, with spiced red plum, sweet balsamic, and licorice. It is full-bodied, with potent intensity in its notes of kirsch and dark mineral earth as well as its sweet tannins.
It’s hard to pull away from the 2018 Pinot Noir Krafuss, as a deep and vivid blend of cherry pits, mint, pine shavings, chalk dust and smoke swirl up from the glass. Just as its bouquet would suggest, this is pure, energetic and wholly satisfying on the palate, with a sweet and sour mix of wild berries giving way to inner violet and lavender tones, while coming across as both creamy but also ethereal. A bit more depth might take the 2018 to the next level, but that’s just splitting hairs. It finishes lightly-structured and refined with nuances of tangerine and pomegranates that linger on and on. This is some stunning juice.
